Semester 1 (18-20 Weeks)*
- Cells (microscopes, organelles, scientific method, enzymes, diffusion/ osmosis, and transport across membranes)
- Biochemistry (biological molecules, photosynthesis, and energy in cells)
- Physiology (digestive, circulatory, respiratory, and excretory systems)
- Practical Investigations (microscopes and cells, enzyme rates of reaction, diffusion and osmosis, physiology)
Semester 2 (18-20 Weeks)*
- Cell Division (mitosis, control of mitosis and meiosis)
- DNA and RNA (DNA replication, transcription, translation, mutations)
- Classical Genetics (Mendelian genetics, test crosses, plus co-dominance)
- Advanced Genetics (X-linked diseases, multiallelic traits, pedigrees, non-disjunction)
- Natural Selection (micro-evolution, speciation)
- Evolution (Creation versus Evolution/ macro-evolution)
- Ecology (biotic and abiotic factors, tolerance limits, communities, cycles, food webs, species interactions, succession, human impacts succession)
Additional Courses to Complete Year 12 SACE Stage 2 Standard
- Biotechnology (cloning, genetic manipulation, cell culture)
- Reproductive Technology (IVF, PGD, Stem Cells)
- Deconstruct and separate SHE (Science as a Human Endeavour) task. Students can pick from various topics such as IVF, genetic engineering, organic farming, pollution, medical genetics, and diseases etc.
Pricing
Programs are available in both small-group and individual formats. Individual enrolment provides tailored instruction and greater flexibility and is priced separately depending on course level and duration.
Classes (4-6 students) for our programs are only $60 per week, which equates to $2400 per year (40 week programs).
