FAQ's
Please refer to our frequently asked questions for some quick information about our offerings.
Who Should Take an Online Course?
Online courses are ideal for students who are motivated enough to work through guided resources, prefer a flexible schedule or those who live in remote areas without access to quality traditional classroom instruction. An online course is also suitable for when courses not offered at your local school.
How Do I Access My Course?
Once you have registered and paid for the course, you will be provided with login credentials to access the course content through our learning management system, Moodle. The Moodle site is called “eteach” and can be accessed here.
Are There Prerequisites or Language Requirements?
There are no prerequisites for either of the Biology program nor for the year 10 semester course in Chemistry. The one year intensive Chemistry course requires students to have completed the year 10 semester course in Chemistry. All the course material is in English and assumes an IELTs score of 5.5.
Can I Take More than One Course at a Time?
Yes, Biology and Chemistry courses work well together.
How much does enrolment cost?
The courses have been designed to have pre-recorded content and for students to work on workshop questions in their own time to reduce the cost of instruction. Students will have to go through this material before their zoom class so that they are prepared to answer questions from the teacher and ask their own questions. Progress through the pre-recorded content and workshop content is assessed. Pricing is shown below.
How Does Online Learning Work?
Online learning is conducted through our learning management system, Moodle. The course content is delivered through a combination of video lectures, readings, quizzes, and assessments. Students can interact with their teacher and classmates through weekly workshop sessions via zoom and other collaborative tools. A student’s progress is tracked and monitored by the teacher throughout the course.
Are the courses taught by certified teachers?
Yes, all of our courses are taught by certified teachers who are experts in their field.
Can my child receive credit for the course at their school?
We offer quality education suitable for students wishing to continue at university level. Parents and students must assess for themselves the suitability of our courses for their future requirements especially as NO formal qualification such as a state education certificate or ATAR will be given. It is solely the responsibility, and at the discretion of, the student and the student’s parent or legal guardian that you undertake our programs, courses, topics and units of study. We recommend checking with your school to see if they accept online course credits.
Are there any additional materials required for the course?
The courses contain all the materials students will need. Students will need a computer with camera and microphone for communicating with the class and teacher via zoom. A reliable internet connection and a device with a web browser are required to access the course content. A stylus enabled computer is also useful. Some students might like a textbook- any High school or first year university Biology or Chemistry textbook is fine – it does not need to be the latest edition. Some additional materials may be required for the practicals, but these will be cheap supermarket items.
